"A good team is critical, and to create a trading strategy at KQT from idea to execution takes the efforts of many
good people along the way."
I have been at Koch for almost 20 years, starting straight out of college and working in a variety of roles including accounting, scheduler (logistics), market analyst, trader, leader and more. Working for Koch has definitely never been boring! Each new position brought new challenges and learning opportunities. Even if I was in the same position for a while, I learned so much or took on so many new responsibilities that my job was never boring. Each step along the way, I’ve been fortunate to work with smart and talented people and learn from many positive role models.
Of all the roles I have been in, analyzing and trading markets is my favorite. At Koch Quantitative Trading, that’s what we do. The markets are very competitive and studying them to develop and implement a successful trading strategy is not an easy task. There is no “cookbook” for how to do it right but there are definitely scientific approaches you can use to help reveal market tendencies. That’s what I like about analysis and trading – it is the application of many disciplines – technology, economics, statistics, philosophy, mathematics, finance, etc. – to solve a problem. In this business, you are constantly learning and growing.
Another important aspect is that you can rarely become a successful trader alone. A good team is critical, and to create a trading strategy at KQT from idea to execution takes the efforts of many good people along the way. Each person has to do some heavy lifting – but together we make it happen. By working together as a team we typically accomplish way more than we would have individually. You know that people are challenging you but they are also watching your back. You have the support of your team and you support them. That makes our work fun and satisfying.
